Liz A. Cross, MSW, LMSW, received her Masters of Social Work from New Mexico Highlands University in 2011 with an emphasis in Clinical Social Work. Liz completed the Human Development and Family Relations program at the University of New Mexico, graduating in 2004 with her Bachelors degree.
Liz has worked in the social service field in various areas for over nine years. She has worked with adults of all ages and children ages 6-15. Liz’s graduate work included interning as an elementary school social worker for Rio Rancho Public Schools and case management/counseling with adult men and women transitioning back into the community upon release from incarceration. She has had the pleasure of working with veteran populations and aspires to focus on providing therapeutic services to members of our military who have graciously served our communities and nation and their families.
Liz uses a multi-dimensional approach in counseling. She understands that every human being is unique, having their own perspectives, needs, and strengths. Liz uses an eclectic approach in working with her clients by tailoring specific therapeutic interventions to address concerns and needs. She enjoys working with various types of individuals and has experience working with clients who suffer from depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship issues, developmental disabilities, workplace issues, ADHD, social/economic problems, homelessness, substance abuse, and who are experiencing other mental health issues.
When Liz thinks of her role as a mental health counselor, she is reminded of her favorite quote by Mahatma Gandhi –“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” She believes change is inevitable, constant, and a process. Liz thrives on helping her clients to take on change one step at a time, make progress toward goals, and support positive healing and transformations that can change and improve the quality of their lives.
